Welcome to Respect Class
We are a year 5/6 class of amazing students who, when it comes to our values, naturally show them to one and all! In our class, there is never a dull moment for with Miss Sanders at the helm our learning is never without excitement and challenge. We take pride in all we do, for ourselves and for our school and wider community. Miss Sanders engages us with innovative approaches, interesting insights, and a constant encouragement to keep our love of learning alive. You will find us at on the top corridor of the new building, discovering and motivating one another.
When Miss Sanders is not hooking us into another new topic of learning she is leading our Religious Education and History. With her enthusiasm spanning all subjects, Respect Class becomes a place where imagination, inquiry, and teamwork grows.
P.E. Days: Our P.E lessons are on Tuesday and Friday. Please ensure that children come into school wearing their P.E. kit. This consists of a navy PE t-shirt, jumper, shorts and jogging bottoms. Trainers of any colour can be worn on PE days. These logo items can be purchased from Karlsports in Kettering.
Reading Book Change Day: Children are encouraged to read regularly. Ideally, we would love them to read every day with a minimum expectation of 3 days a week.
Books are changed as and when pupils have finished their books as children move onto reading longer stories in Year 5/6.
We ask that parents record when they have heard their child read in the child’s reading record book. Children are also asked to record when they have read independently.
Spellings: Spelling lists are sent home on Monday. Children will practise spellings as part of their English lessons but please also practise them at home. Spellings are tested during each term aa part of the Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling assessments.
Support Learning at home: Times Table practice - ‘TTRockstars’. Information on how to access this App will be sent home with your child’s username and login details.
Our Walk-in Wednesday’s take place each term. We look forward to welcoming you into class to share different aspects of the children’s learning.
Snacks / Drinks: Children are allowed to bring in their own morning healthy snack (no chocolate, crisps or nuts) We also encouraged children to bring a labelled bottle of water to drink during the day. We kindly ask that no fizzy drinks are brought into school.
School Trip: This year we are taking the Year 5 pupils to Rockingham Castle and our Year 6 will go on a residential to Govilon.
