Welcome to Acceptance Class
I am so happy to have you here. Our classroom is a safe, caring and happy place where everyone belongs. In Acceptance class, we treat each other with kindness and respect, and we celebrate all the things that make us unique and special. This year is especially exciting because I have just started at St Mary’s, and I am so thrilled to be part of such a wonderful school community. I can’t wait to get to know everyone and share lots of fun, laughter, and learning. Together, we’ll be going on exciting learning adventures—especially through stories that spark our imaginations and take us to magical places, full of creativity and wonder. I will be there every step of the way to help, guide, and cheer you on. We’re going to have an amazing year filled with curiosity, friendship, and growth. I am so glad you’re part of our class family!
P.E: Our P.E lessons are on Wednesday and Friday. Please ensure that children come into school wearing their P.E. kit. This consists of a navy PE t-shirt, jumper, shorts and jogging bottoms. Trainers of any colour can be worn on PE days. These logo items can be purchased from Karlsports in Kettering.
Book Change Day: Reading books are changed on a Friday.
Children are encouraged to read daily.
We ask that parents record when they have heard their child read in the child’s reading record book.
Spellings:
Year 1, spelling lists are sent home and children are tested on Friday.
Year 2, children are tested termly and receive new spellings every Friday.
Please practise these spellings with your children.
Support Learning at home: Maths - ‘Numbots’. Information on how to access this App will be sent home with your child’s username and login details.
Our Walk-in Wednesday’s take place each term. We look forward to welcoming you into class to share different aspects of the children’s learning.
Snacks / Drinks: Children are offered a snack at break time. They are encouraged to bring a labelled bottle of water to drink during the day. We kindly ask that no fizzy drinks are brought into school.
School Trip: During the summer term, the Key Stage 1 children will be learning about Exciting Explorers, with a focus on Neil Armstrong. We will therefore be planning a trip to the National Space Centre. This will give the children the opportunity to learn about space travel in a practical, exciting way. Watch out for more details later in the year about this exciting opportunity.
Communication ~ Let’s stay connected
There are several ways that school will communicate with you.
Emails are sent for our Weekly Bulletin, Termly Newsletters and Adhoc information.
Text Messages - Alerts (e.g. school trips) / key information.
School Website - Has a wealth of information. https://www.stmaryscebl.info
You will receive regular updates through our Weekly Bulletin that is emailed on a Friday and a Newsletter which is emailed home at the end of each term.
Also look out for our
Instagram Page
and our
Facebook Page to see what is happening in school.
We encourage parents to share concerns—big or small—as early as possible. Open communication helps us support your child in the best way.
Please note that class teachers are unable to speak with parents during morning drop-off or at the end of the school day.
